1. Historical Roots
Norwich provides a multitude of sites with historical interest. The Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle are just two examples of the city’s rich history, having been built in 1096 and 1087 respectively. These celebrated grounds offer a striking backdrop to the cityscape and its appeal.

One of Norfolk’s major draws is its peaceful and expansive countryside, which is best explored on foot. The Norfolk County Council website lists the majority of walking trails you can join in the county, from long-distance routes to shorter circular walks.
However, buses run throughout the major towns and villages of Norfolk, and Norwich also operates a Park and Ride system, so you can explore the town centre with ease.
Norwich is super accessible, so neighbouring communities such as Great Yarmouth and Cromer can be reached by train with minimal effort. Or, if you’d rather venture further afield, a train to London is just over two hours. Not bad, eh?
3. The Food and Drink Scene
With vast farmland and coastal villages, it’s no surprise that you can enjoy fresh and seasonal produce all year round. Unique regional dishes, like herrings served with mustard and hares cooked whole, make for a memorable culinary experience. Located just minutes away from Norwich is The Broads, Britain’s largest protected wetland. Woven together by nature, The Broads is a rich tapestry of ocean, landscape and wildlife.
