Let’s say you want to purchase a house at The Burrows, valued at £260,000. With Shared Ownership, you don’t need to pay the full amount. You can opt to purchase a 40% share of the property, valued at £104,000.

When it comes to the deposit, Shared Ownership makes it possible to purchase a house at The Burrows with just a 5% deposit of your 40% share, that’s £5,200. 

You then need to secure a mortgage on the outstanding amount.

Furthermore, if after you’ve moved into the property you decided you want to own your home outright, you can increase your share value to 100% – something we call ‘staircasing’.
